Unique Veils for Non-Traditional Bridal Looks
Your wedding attire should feel like an extension of yourself. When it comes to veils, there’s a whole world beyond classic white tulle. If a traditional look doesn’t fit who you are, there’s no rule saying you have to wear one. Below are some of my favorite unique and independent veil designers creating pieces that feel personal, expressive, and artful.
My lovely bride Nicole wore a vintage fascinator hat for her greenhouse elopement. High-quality secondhand and vintage stores are a great place to look for non-traditional apparel and accessories for your wedding day, especially if you’re wanting a truly retro look. Madison Chamberlain makes some of my all time favorite non-traditional veils. Some of my top picks from her brand include the dreamy and romantic Lilith Veil which is a gorgeous take on a juliet cap, the big, playful Bow Veil with metallic ribbon bows framing your face, the extra long and vibrant purple and fuschia Morning Glory Veil made with delicate lace and ribbons, and the ultra-kitschy retro Cupid Veil that screams Vegas or Palm Springs, with its hot pink tulle framed mini hearts. I’m bound and determined to wear a Madision Chamberlain veil at my own wedding one day, I just adore her whimsical, romantic, kitschy, colorful designs.
Make a high-fashion statement with a Jane Rhyan veil in a bold, vintage netting style like the Clementine Veil or the cascading, ruffly Maude Floral Cathedral Veil. This designer has some truly gorgeous veils and I love how elaborate and sculptural they all feel. Dreamy.
Rock’N’Veil also does lighthearted and colorful veils inspired by rock songs (how fun?!! really speaking to my concert photographer side), like this Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac Veil with shimmering gold hearts. Enaura’s Pink Dimensional Floral Cathedral Veil is full-length and super dreamy with big puffy pink flowers all over. Sweet and fun!
If you’re a fan of all things retro and vintage fashion, you’ll probably love the 3D Floral Bridal Bandana from Janesse Russel. If you’re more a fan of longer retro styles, take a look at The Icon: Long Drop-Veil – it’s just to die for!
And finally, my last recommendation is for the truly playful texture lovers! For love and lemons is a long-time favorite brand of mine, although they aren’t as small/indie as they once were, they still make beautiful pieces. The Thalia Veil is long and layered with soft gauzey chiffon, and the Locked Hearts Veil features the most precious embroidered tulle adorned with hearts and bows.
